Invite More Joy by Re-Centering after a Confrontation or Stressful Moment

"A moment of patience in a moment of anger prevents a thousand moments of regret."

Today we make room for joy by working to heal ourselves, to find compassion even when we're feeling anger or a thousand thoughts of regret.

What's wonderful about handling difficult moments this way is you not only rapidly recover your sanity, you also heal on a deep level. You get to the root of things in such a way you become stronger, much less trigger-able, and better able to handle things the next time a similar situation arises.
This simple process has literally saved me from myself! I have always been a hot head and keeping my cool was never my specialty. I would often walk away from difficult situations feeling embarrassed and mortified at myself. I would hash it out for weeks and feel completely humiliated!

These days, it's rare for me to lose it. Thankfully, I've worked through enough things to have finally achieved level headed-ness or at least the ability to step back and remain neutral. LOL! But if I do happen to encounter an uncomfortable moment, I use the following recovery plan to smooth things over in my mind and release the situation so I don't have to torture over it!

Here's the 4 step plan that helps to resolve any situation that's currently weighing on your mind:

Having Trouble Sleeping? Turn Things Around by Quieting the Inner Noise

Today I heard something that really disturbed me so I think it's time someone spoke up about it!

I was listening to some study music on Youtube and it was interrupted by a drug commercial. The ad was all about some new sleep medication that promised a better nights sleep with only a few of the following inherent risks.

A Clearing to Take Care of You When it feels like Your Family is Falling Apart

Do you struggle with anxiety or worry? When we stress and anguish excessively about something, it puts us at risk energetically to absorb other people's issues and problems. This doesn't help them (as they will just re-create it momentarily) but it can break us down and make us feel shaky, sick, drained, and literally like we're going crazy!

For me, what I’m finding helps is to visualize the person or situation as being surrounded by a Spiritual Healing Team of comfort, guidance, and support to help things along. I ask for the support and then know that it’s my task to work to release my own fear, anguish, need to control, panic, and attachment to how I think it all should work out, etc.

Releasing the Heavy Burden of Guilt and Regret: A Clearing to Live Lighter

I just found some really great information about guilt and how best to heal and work through it. I wanted to share because guilt is one of the most difficult emotions we all will deal with, especially us moms! Louise Hay, author of “You Can Heal Your Life” cited guilt to be one of the most useless emotions we feel.  Can you believe that? In her book she says that guilt actually creates the most pain and suffering in our bodies and is a big contributor to illness and disease.

Yet.. a part of me cringes when I hear it said that “guilt is useless” because there’s a part of me that believes that we need the guilt, like if we don’t have it, we’ll be terrible people. After all doesn’t it seem like the most cold blooded criminals have little or no remorse and that’s what makes them terrifying?

A Clearing to Ease the “Middle of the Night” Worry for Your Children‏

A Clearing to Ease the “Middle of the Night” Worry for Your Children‏

Being a parent is a rewarding and amazing experience. Yet, there are moments when you feel so exhausted and consumed with worry you can barely breathe right?! This is something that only gets harder as our children age and their problems and life choices become bigger and more far reaching!

Last week my husband was out of town and I was really struggling to keep up. It was 9:00 P.M. on a school night and I was trying to help one of my 4 boys to finish his homework. He was frustrated and right on the verge of falling apart when one of my teenage sons started acting up and stomping around the house. I was trying my best to stay calm and handle the situation as quickly as I could because my other two boys were still waiting for my undivided attention so we could celebrate and talk about their day. With it being time for bed and everything happening at once, I had to hurry them all off to bed. As the house became quieter I felt a crushing wave of guilt, inadequacy, and worry because I hadn't been able to give them all the focus, patience, and attention they really needed!
Can you relate?

The Secret to Staying Calm When Things Are Falling Apart

The Secret to Staying Calm When Things Are Falling Apart

I was reading a forum today that was alive and buzzing with stressed out moms. They were worried about everything from their kid getting a bad grade to what to make for dinner and it struck me once again how challenging it is to raise children.

It's amazing how many things we have to deal with every day as parents, I mean, what an emotional roller coaster we're all on the moment our first child is born! We can go from fulfilled and gratified after a hug in the morning to heartbroken anguish when someone at school tells them they're stupid and can't be a part of the friend group.

Erase Parental Guilt with One Powerful Question:

Erase Parental Guilt with One Powerful Question:

Guilt is a really heavy and uncomfortable emotion that we will all deal with at one time or another.  For me, the experience of being a parent has activated a wide scope of emotions with guilt and anguish being in the top 3.

Can you relate? After a day filled with deadlines, an endless sea of tasks all needing immediate attention, and now the kids are whining about homework… it’s enough to make a person crazy some days. So, you try to keep your cool but after so long, you find yourself snapping and losing your temper with the kids (or someone who probably didn’t deserve it..)  only to find yourself filled with self-loathing and regret.

For me, this sinking feeling tends to hit after everyone’s asleep and the voice of reason kicks in letting me know that my over reaction was ridiculous and the kids were just tired and needing some real time with me. These nights are some of the most painful nights ever, aren’t they?
