Re-claiming your Life When you've Been Overcome by Grief

Re-claiming your Life When you've Been Overcome by Grief

Lately I've been thinking a lot about a few of my close friends. Two of them have suffered the loss of their child, one of them their sibling, and the two others.. their spouse. (All in the last 4 years) The process of grief is always excruciatingly difficult but it can be extra sharp during the Holiday Season.

There are no adequate words when it comes to this kind of profound sadness and there are really no shortcuts. Grief is simply an intense emotion, an experience that we just have to move through the best way we can.

A Clearing to Ease the “Middle of the Night” Worry for Your Children‏

A Clearing to Ease the “Middle of the Night” Worry for Your Children‏

Being a parent is a rewarding and amazing experience. Yet, there are moments when you feel so exhausted and consumed with worry you can barely breathe right?! This is something that only gets harder as our children age and their problems and life choices become bigger and more far reaching!

Last week my husband was out of town and I was really struggling to keep up. It was 9:00 P.M. on a school night and I was trying to help one of my 4 boys to finish his homework. He was frustrated and right on the verge of falling apart when one of my teenage sons started acting up and stomping around the house. I was trying my best to stay calm and handle the situation as quickly as I could because my other two boys were still waiting for my undivided attention so we could celebrate and talk about their day. With it being time for bed and everything happening at once, I had to hurry them all off to bed. As the house became quieter I felt a crushing wave of guilt, inadequacy, and worry because I hadn't been able to give them all the focus, patience, and attention they really needed!
Can you relate?

The Secret to Staying Calm When Things Are Falling Apart

The Secret to Staying Calm When Things Are Falling Apart

I was reading a forum today that was alive and buzzing with stressed out moms. They were worried about everything from their kid getting a bad grade to what to make for dinner and it struck me once again how challenging it is to raise children.

It's amazing how many things we have to deal with every day as parents, I mean, what an emotional roller coaster we're all on the moment our first child is born! We can go from fulfilled and gratified after a hug in the morning to heartbroken anguish when someone at school tells them they're stupid and can't be a part of the friend group.

The Single Most Powerful Thing You Can Do to Light Up Your Life!

The Single Most Powerful Thing You Can Do to Light Up Your Life!

Hi Everyone,
Don't you just love it when you see a quote on Facebook and it stays with you all day? Here's the one I saw today.

"Time isn't precious at all because it is an illusion. What you perceive as precious is not time but the one point that is out of time; the Now. The more you are focused on time –past and future- the more you miss the Now, the most precious thing there is." –Eckart Tolle

How to Never Have a Bad Holiday!

What is it that causes a “Bad Holiday?” I'm not referring to a burnt meal or a messy house, those things aren't the funnest but they are usually easier to repair and recover from. What I mean by a “bad holiday” is the tension and stress between family members, the experience of having your buttons pushed, yet trying to smile through it and act like you're not screaming on the inside. 4 steps to getting the message so you can be at peace in all situations and in anyone's company.

Isn't it the worst when you feel annoyed and irritated by the people around you? This last couple of weeks I noticed that I wasn't being as kind as I wanted to be so I spent several hours tapping, meditating, and praying, hoping to just clear this uncomfortable state out of my life. Feeling Overwhelmed?

overwhelmed-no-moreFeeling Overwhelmed?

A few weeks before school got out for the summer I noticed myself feeling really tense. As the day wore on, I noticed I was feeling more and more agitated and overwhelmed.

I had already planned out my whole week and I had my mind set on exactly how I was going to get everything done. Then I got a call from one of my boys teachers informing me that he was behind and I would need to start coming to the school to help him. My other son needed extra help on a report and I had forgotten totally about the quarterly reports that were due for our business. As all this stuff was needing to get done, I noticed the dishes and laundry piling up and the clutter around the house becoming more than I was comfortable with.

I swear in this moment I could feel my blood pressure starting to rise. I was definitely getting agitated and tense. I was even getting edgy with the family.

I love this quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson, "It is foolish to focus on too many things at once, one link in the chain of destiny is all that can be handled at a time." This quote is one of eliminate-overwhelmmy favorites because it reminds me that I need to chill out and handle one "link" at a time. I need to be flexible and allow Divine Assistance and flow.

In reality, it's not that bad unless I'm trying to hold it all in my head at once. Everyone logically knows this stuff. Of course you know you need to focus on one thing at a time and set priorities. But.. knowing that doesn't always physically help your body to be less tense and the to-do list to get any shorter.

Here's a technique that's super helpful when things are feeling like too much.
