A Clearing to Ease the “Middle of the Night” Worry for Your Children‏

Being a parent is a rewarding and amazing experience. Yet, there are moments when you feel so exhausted and consumed with worry you can barely breathe right?! This is something that only gets harder as our children age and their problems and life choices become bigger and more far reaching!

Last week my husband was out of town and I was really struggling to keep up. It was 9:00 P.M. on a school night and I was trying to help one of my 4 boys to finish his homework. He was frustrated and right on the verge of falling apart when one of my teenage sons started acting up and stomping around the house. I was trying my best to stay calm and handle the situation as quickly as I could because my other two boys were still waiting for my undivided attention so we could celebrate and talk about their day. With it being time for bed and everything happening at once, I had to hurry them all off to bed. As the house became quieter I felt a crushing wave of guilt, inadequacy, and worry because I hadn't been able to give them all the focus, patience, and attention they really needed!

I was reading a forum today that was alive and buzzing with stressed out moms. They were worried about everything from their kid getting a bad grade to what to make for dinner and it struck me once again how challenging it is to raise children.

It's amazing how many things we have to deal with every day as parents, I mean, what an emotional roller coaster we're all on the moment our first child is born! We can go from fulfilled and gratified after a hug in the morning to heartbroken anguish when someone at school tells them they're stupid and can't be a part of the friend group.

I love the idea of the Thanksgiving Holiday and focusing on the things we're most grateful for and getting together with family. It's an awesome idea. Yet for some it can be a source of major discomfort.
For me, I used to spend year after year feeling dread and anxiety at the very thought of Thanksgiving Day.

Every year my immediate and extended family gets together for a huge Holiday dinner. I really am grateful and do enjoy seeing most of the family but there's a few that I have felt incredibly uncomfortable around. For years, I just tried to stay busy and stay away from these people.
